Commission keeps marijuana moratorium in place | Politics

Mason County Commissioners agreed this week to keep a six-month moratorium on medical marijuana gardens in place.
Commissioners made the decision following a public hearing to discuss the findings of fact that justify the moratorium.
Earlier this year, the Legislature approved a law allowing up to 10 qualified patients to cultivate collective gardens.
The law allows 15 marijuana plants per person and no more than 45 total plants are permitted per garden.
Commissioners want time to develop an ordinance “that both complies with this Bill and meets the needs of the citizens of Mason County,” according to a county staff report.
The Bremerton City Council and Port Orchard City Council recently approved 6-month moratoriums.
The moratorium will expire on Nov. 20.
