Officials want you to ‘Test Your Mason County Mind!’

County officials are asking residents to take a series of quizzes in order to gain information for a new community health improvement plan.

The quizzes are posted on the county's website. Here's more about the program from the county:

For the past 6 months, a group of dedicated citizens, representing various sectors of our community, has met to learn more about the issues and challenges facing many of our community members.  In February 2012, they will use this newly found knowledge and their experience of Mason County to identify priority strategic issues.  However, more community input into the priority setting activity is needed!  Your voice is important!

We have created the ‘Test Your Mason County Mind!’ campaign as a way to help citizens learn more about our community and the needs of our neighbors.  We are publishing a series of four ‘Test Your Mason County Mind!’ quizzes.

Mason PUD 3 mopping up from storm

Mason PUD 3 reports this morning it restored power to nearly all of its customers late Saturday and only a few customer hookups remained on Sunday.

However, there is more work to be done this week. Here's the plan from the district for this week:

PUD 3 crews will be working throughout its service territory assessing remaining damage to the utility’s system and dealing with leaning trees and broken or weakened limbs that may be threatening power lines.

The PUD asks motorists to be aware that its personnel will be working along area roads and highways, and to be careful and courteous in these work zones.

Most of the outages last week were scattered throughout Mason County, some in isolated areas. At the peak of restoration efforts, nearly 3,600 of the 33,000 PUD 3 customers were without electricity. However, almost 2,900 of those were from a short substation outage on the Tahuya Peninsula.

PUD 3 is proud to provide its customers with safe, reliable service. Linemen worked through lingering ice on trees & slushy snow to restore electricity.
